Sagely Fox has an alternate 'private' site where you may:
The original purpose for this 'private' site was to store our 'Free Reading Classics Program' E-books and Audiobooks! But it has become slightly more over time.
There you can download epub e-books and audiobooks, usually the audio in zipped files containing the book's mp3 files. Some links are simply to where you may access the e-book and/or audiobook online for yourself. There are two ways to access The Reading Classics Program. You may either scroll down to the list of available downloads on the 'private' Index/Public Files page or you may click on The Reading Classics Program heading at the top of the Index/Public Files page to directly access the directories.
You're free to download any document or file in the Sagely Fox Public Files or share them with your friends. You'll not be doing anything illegal. They are all public domain files.
Not much of interest in the Social Media Docs directory. For example, I read the 1776 Commission Report as one of my favorite patriots, The Dean at Hillsdale College was the Chairman of the commission. I knew several others on the commission and I know our education system has sucked for decades now. I was hoping for some improvements as a result of the report. My father's 1930s 5th grade education was FAR better than my 70s University of Maryland education and my Hartnell College electronics degree combined. Why don't they teach Vedic Math(s) in elementary school? I didn't learn them until my 60s. And why not teach memory technology in elementary school? With some of those techs learned, the rest of a child's education would literally be "child 's play".
So then I run across the Washington Post article about the 1776 Commission Report. First, I know Jeff Bezo's, Amazon CEO billionaire, owns WaPo and his ethics & integrity with "the truth" are thinner than one ply toilet paper. The headline by itself was disgraceful. So I post them both and ask, "Do you have kids? What do you want for them? I hope it isn't what they've been getting as it looks more like propaganda and indoctrination than education to me.
There's a PDF showing the geography of the 2016 Presidential Election. If we ever lose the Electoral College, we'll be in big trouble. A hand full of already corrupt Democrat run cities would elect every President if we devolve into a democracy (mob rule). Thank God we had wise forefathers.
I don't recall where I learned it, but there is a college that will give you a liberal arts degree simply for reading a certain number of Classic Books. Since most of them are free, and I have some space on my cloud, why not offer them to those who visit my blog? I already have them, most are from public domain sources or are productions of public domain classics, so I don't believe I'm stepping on any copyright laws. If so, there's an email contact at the bottom of the about page in the "private " site. Let me know, I'll take care of it.
In the original post I listed a number of places you can find free books. There are ways to get free books illegally, like the newest novel by your favorite author, but I'd like me less if I told you how. There are a number of sites where it is perfectly legal to download tons of books and audiobooks. So I'll leave a short list below.
Also in the original page I listed the software I personally use on android and iOS when reading or listening to books. I'm not going to supply additional links to the software I do use beyond 7-zip and VLC. For example, I use and listed Pocketbooks to read e-books on Android devices. It is a wonderful product. They've added reading audiobooks to it, which I hate. Now it is difficult for me (a tech-head since the 70s) to use. They've moved the controls to "make it easier " and now it's nearly unusable. I still use it but I've also downloaded 3-4 other e-book readers. I do love Smart Audiobook Player by Obreey for listening to my audiobooks on Android. It too has "improved " in horrible ways I can't endorse. I still like it and use it.
I despise DRM. If you don't know what it is, that's probably best. What it is, is "locked " software that can only be used on specific propriety software. I get it. It stands for Digital Rights Management. Writer's, of which I consider myself one, make money on their copyrights. When people "share " their books or software or anything with copyrights widely, it harms the artist and those they support, terribly.
Alternately, when I buy a e-book, for example, I don't want to read it on Kindle, only. Which is what you get when you buy most books from Amazon, or any major book seller. Personally, I strip out the "lock " immediately. I don't give away copyrighted books I've purchased. But they are mine, I'll not be dependent on "hope " it will work later when the DRM changes, or the software changes, or, or... that's not right either.
One final word. I'm putting it here as no one will likely ever read it. On the 'private' About page, the last topic is Contact. It bounces around the world and eventually lands in my private email. I have over 5 TB (Terabytes) of e-books and audiobooks. I am willing on a one on one basis to share any of them. Feel free to ask. I'll see if I have it and find a way to share it. One caveat... I'm sharing only with you. I expect you not to share them further if they are my copies of copyrighted files. I do want you to read. I'd also like to remain friendly.
Known Safe Websites for Legal Free Reading Material.
The following two audiobook sources add comments so often it can become annoying. To be honest, If it's a good performer, I will download the books, then load them into Audacity, edit out most the annoying 'announcements' before listening.
Don't forget your local library! Unfortunately for me, I live so far from a library even getting a library card seems impossible. But this isn't true for 90% of the people in the western world.
These are not necessarily free books. They can be. These are services for avid readers and if you're prone to write a review, you can pick up some unbelievable deals on some of these services. This is just a small list. I'm sure I belong to at least 4 of these type services where I get daily "deals " that often include free e-books. For the record, free isn't always what it seems. You may be able to pick up a very popular trilogy for under a dollar or even free. If you really look into it you'll sometimes learn they just published book number four for $8-16. Depends on the author and how popular they are, if they are indie published or traditionally published.
I spent decades putting off reading most classics and considering the number of books (and manuscripts) I've read, I so often could have been reading a really great book. They are classics for a number of very good reasons.
God Bless and read, read, read.
